Ama Knight
I’m a third generation California native. I grew up in a small town right outside Lake Tahoe spending summers on the lake, and winters on the slopes with my family. When I was young, we lived in a farmhouse and farmed Llama’s (secretly, I think this is Jen’s favorite story about my past … she loves llamas!) I’ve had my share of ups and downs, and ins, and outs, in life and I’d like to think they have all shaped who I am today. The memories with my family growing up are without a doubt my favorite, and I think ultimately, formed my passion in working with families.
I am a mother to a 2.5-year-old little girl, Olivia and a nearly 8-year-old little boy, Oscar. I was one of those women who were told I could never have children due to medical complications when I was younger, so my children are my miracle babies, and I am so grateful for them both. While my partner and I decided during covid that I would stay home with our kids for a while, I have been anxious to reintegrate with the adult world and use my natural creativity to get back to serving others.
I have a BA in interior design and I’m a creative. I spent 10 years working in corporate management (Starbucks, in Seattle no less, I consider that my on-the-job MBA degree), which has aided me in all kinds of people skills, organizational skills, leadership skills and all-around problem-solving skills. I receive great joy from listening to others and have been told I am a great communicator.
Fast forward a few years, and here we are. When the opportunity presented itself to work with San Diego Family Mediation Center and Mrs. Jennifer Segura, it seemed like the perfect blend of my leadership and organizational skills to help manage the office and my creative side to assist with marketing and social media. With a bonus of working alongside two lovely ladies that I consider family.
