I know there are many many people out there who go to work day in and day out because they have to, not because they want to. I am truly so fortunate that I have a “job” that I love so much that it never feels like work…ok, I cannot say NEVER feels like work, because of course, as you can imagine, it is emotionally draining at times. But the more draining a case is, the more rewarding it is too. I hear too many people tell me horror stories of their relationship with attorneys (or their friends or families experiences), and it is heart breaking.
While divorcing your spouse has legal ramifications, it is not a legal problem. It is a human problem, a family problem.
If you are facing one of life’s heaviest burdens, divorce, do your best to keep your family out of the legal system. It is extremely dysfunctional and not created for families or the issues that families face when going through this process. Do your best to find a professional family mediator that cares about your family and what this process can do to them…and for them. You are not facing an easy road, but there is an easier path out here for you to choose. And while you go through this process, whichever process you choose, tread lightly…your spouse is not the enemy, he or she is your family and no legal document can change that.
